Din Tai Fung to Close China Outlets Amid Weak Consumer Spending

Din Tai Fung, a Taiwanese dumpling chain, is planning to close 14 of its over 30 locations in mainland China by the end of October. This decision comes as a response to stiff competition and a decline in consumer spending in China, which has been affected by a price war among restaurants. The closures will impact stores in major cities such as Beijing and Xiamen. The company cited the expiration of its business license and internal disagreements over renewing it as reasons for this decision.
