Ikea trials resale website to rival eBay and Gumtree

Ikea is launching its own second-hand online platform called Ikea Preowned, allowing customers to buy and sell pre-owned Ikea furniture. This trial is currently operating in Madrid and Oslo, with plans for a global rollout by December. The initiative aligns with Ikea's sustainability goals, aiming to reduce waste and build a circular economy by encouraging reuse of furniture. It also allows Ikea to compete directly in the growing second-hand market, which is currently dominated by platforms like eBay and Gumtree.
