Repsol has invested 250 million euros in a new biofuel unit at its refinery in Cartagena, Spain, in response to stringent E.U. climate regulations. The facility will convert waste materials like used cooking oil into biofuels for trucks and airplanes, promising to reduce emissions by up to 90% compared to traditional petroleum fuels. The new biofuels are said to perform equally well in colder climates, enhancing their appeal in various markets. This development positions Repsol as a key player in the transition to sustainable energy sources while maintaining its involvement in conventional fuel markets.
