OpenAI Eyes $100 Billion Valuation

Published On Aug 28, 2024, 8:08 PM

OpenAI is in negotiations for a funding round that would elevate its valuation to over $100 billion, an increase of $20 billion from its last valuation just eight months ago. Thrive Capital is set to lead this funding round with a $1 billion investment, and Microsoft is also expected to contribute. Despite a cooling of investor enthusiasm in the A.I. sector, OpenAI remains a leader and innovator, building advanced technologies such as image and speech generation since launching ChatGPT, which started the A.I. boom in late 2022. The funding round may allow existing shareholders to sell their shares as well.

Stock Forecasts

OpenAI's leadership position in A.I. combined with significant investment from reputable firms like Thrive Capital and Microsoft suggests sustained confidence in its future prospects. This could positively influence their public perception and stock value, should they go public.
