Wind power faces a significant waste problem due to non-recyclable turbine blades made from fiberglass and plastic, which end up in landfills. However, researchers from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory have developed a new type of turbine blade made from recyclable plant-based material, which could ease this waste issue. This new blade material is derived from inedible sugar from wood, used cooking oil, and agricultural waste, and promises similar performance to conventional blades.
