Swiss International forced to add huge 'balancing plate' to Airbus jets due to new 1st-class seat weight

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is adding new first-class seats that are heavier than expected, necessitating modifications to their Airbus A330-300 aircraft. The seats, which provide luxury features like lockable sliding doors, will require a 'balancing plate' to maintain proper weight distribution for safety. This change reflects SWISS's response to customer demands for improved in-flight experiences. The renovations will begin in Winter 2025-26, with 4 out of 227 total seats designated for first class.
