DirecTV’s Dispute With Disney Shows Why Satellite TV Is in Trouble

Published On Sep 12, 2024, 1:22 PM

DirecTV is currently struggling in negotiations with Disney, which has led to service disruptions for many of its customers who are missing out on popular programming like the U.S. Open and Monday Night Football. Unlike its cable competitors such as Comcast and Charter, DirecTV and similar satellite TV providers lack the bargaining power due to their less diverse offerings, specifically being primarily TV services without the added benefit of broadband internet. As a result, customers are more likely to switch to streaming alternatives.
