Yvonne Buckley, a disabled woman from Ipswich, was overpaid more than £5,000 in universal credit due to a mistake by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). Despite being told she was eligible for the payments, she learned that she had to repay the entire amount, which has caused her significant financial hardship. While the DWP initially acknowledged the error and considered waiving the debt, Buckley ultimately received a letter demanding repayment again. She plans to repay the amount at £1 per month despite the hardships it has caused her.
