Cathay Pacific Airbus fault could have caused major damage, says report

An engine fire on a Cathay Pacific Airbus A350 was linked to a fuel leak, requiring immediate engine checks across the fleet. The issue stemmed from a broken hose in the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engine, which if unaddressed might have led to extensive damage. Consequentially, air safety regulators issued directives for inspections, leading to concerns about the engine's reliability. However, since the problem was isolated to the fuel lines rather than internal parts, it can be resolved without major redesigns. Rolls-Royce also plans to invest in improving its engine range following these incidents.
