Sub-postmasters won't get payouts by March, says minister

The UK government is struggling to compensate sub-postmasters affected by the Horizon IT scandal, with Post Office minister Gareth Thomas stating it will be difficult to meet a March 2025 deadline for full payments. Sir Alan Bates, a former sub-postmaster, has been advocating for faster compensation due to the long delays experienced by the victims. While some progress has been made, only a fraction of those eligible for compensation have received it. Bates has raised concerns over the slow payout process, suggesting that it may be benefiting legal firms more than the victims themselves.
