Europe Votes to Impose Higher Tariffs on Electric Cars From China

The European Union has decided to impose higher tariffs on electric vehicles imported from China, citing the need to protect European automakers from unfair trade practices. These tariffs, ranging from 9% to 35.3%, will become effective on October 31 and last for five years, on top of an existing 10% duty. This move could strain trade relations with China, which heavily subsidizes its EV industry. Negotiations between the EU and China are ongoing as both sides seek an alternative solution that complies with World Trade Organization rules.
