Sir Keir Starmer, the leader of the Labour Party in the UK, suggested that an increase in National Insurance (NI) rates for employers may be on the table in the upcoming budget. While Labour's manifesto indicates no changes on NI for working individuals, Starmer did not clarify if this also applies to employers. There is growing speculation that the government may raise NI rates for employers to address a significant budget deficit estimated at £22 billion. Currently, employers pay 13.8% in NI for employee earnings over £175 per week.
