New young drivers should not have under-21s as passengers, says AA

The AA (Automobile Association) has proposed that new drivers under the age of 21 should not be allowed to carry passengers of a similar age for the first six months after passing their driving test. This suggestion aims to improve road safety by potentially reducing serious injuries and fatalities among young drivers, a demographic often involved in road accidents. The AA pins its hopes on the government reconsidering graduated driving licenses, which have effectively reduced incidents in other countries, although the UK government is currently not contemplating such measures.

On the other hand, if these proposals are passed, it may lead to reduced car sales as young drivers contend with stricter limitations on vehicle use. Companies relying on sales to younger demographics could see a downturn.
