The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) has rejected Boeing's latest contract offer, prolonging a strike that has significantly impacted the production of key aircraft, including the 737 Max. The strike was initiated on September 13 and has seen over 33,000 machinists participate. Although Boeing offered a substantial wage increase along with bonuses and improved retirement benefits, the union found it insufficient to meet their demands. This ongoing industrial action has nearly halted assembly lines at Boeing, leading to expected layoffs of about 17,000 employees and financial strain as the company seeks to raise $35 billion in funding amidst rising costs due to the strike.
