Netflix Netherlands and France offices raided in tax fraud probe
Published On Nov 5, 2024, 8:41 AM
French and Dutch authorities have raided Netflix's offices in Paris and Amsterdam as part of a tax fraud investigation. The probe, which started in November 2022, focuses on serious tax fraud and off-the-books work related to Netflix's tax filings from 2019 to 2021. Netflix's previous strategy of declaring its French turnover in the Netherlands allowed it to minimize its tax liabilities, but after changing this arrangement, its reported turnover in France rose significantly. Authorities are now examining whether Netflix continued any practices to minimize profits post-2021.

The raid and investigation could result in significant fines or reputational damage for Netflix, which might affect its subscriber growth and stock price in the short term. However, if Netflix successfully mitigates the risks and maintains compliance, its long-term performance may not be severely impacted.
