Thanksgiving dinner 2024: How much you can save using store-brand products

Published On Nov 12, 2024, 7:02 AM

Wells Fargo experts anticipate a challenging Thanksgiving for consumers due to high food prices, despite a slight overall decrease in the cost of a Thanksgiving meal using name-brand products. Their analysis shows that a Thanksgiving meal for ten will cost $90 using name-brand foods, a 0.5% decrease from the previous year, while a similar meal using store-brand products will cost $73, reflecting a 2.7% increase. The report suggests consumers can save money by choosing store-brand items, as the price gap between store and name-brand products is narrowing, although certain items like turkey remain competitively priced. Food inflation persists, impacting prices across various food categories, including turkey, stuffing, and beverages.

Stock Forecasts

As food prices remain high and inflation continues to be a concern, companies heavily reliant on name-brand food items could face challenges meeting consumer demand. If consumers continue to switch to more affordable store-brand options, name-brand food companies may struggle to maintain sales volume or may have to further adjust prices, negatively impacting profitability.
