Homebase collapses with 2,000 jobs at risk

Homebase, a home improvement retailer, has entered administration, putting 2,000 jobs at risk. Hilco, the owner, failed to find a buyer after struggling to manage the decline in consumer confidence post-pandemic and dealing with high inflation and supply chain issues. The Range has acquired up to 75 stores and the Homebase brand, protecting about 1,600 jobs. However, 49 stores remain without buyers, and Teneo, the administrators, are seeking interested parties. Homebase's recent performance has been hindered by a series of operational blunders under previous management.
