The FDA warned Colgate-Palmolive, the parent company of Tom's of Maine, about contamination found in water samples and toothpaste at its Sanford, Maine facility. Inspections revealed bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which can cause health issues, especially in immunocompromised individuals. The FDA did not order a recall but has mandated the company to address various manufacturing violations within 15 days.

The contamination report may lead to a decline in consumer trust in the Tom's of Maine toothpaste brand, potentially affecting sales and overall brand reputation. If consumers choose to avoid products linked to this issue, it may negatively impact Colgate-Palmolive's revenue from this line of products.
