Thames Water: Embattled firm sees more sewage spills

Published On Dec 10, 2024, 2:49 AM

Thames Water has reported a 40% increase in sewage spills and pollution incidents in the first half of the year, largely attributed to record rainfall. The company, which is saddled with nearly £16 billion in debt, may run out of cash as early as early 2025 unless it secures financial support. A £3 billion lifeline has been arranged with creditors, with the first £1.5 billion potentially available in February 2024. As one of the largest water companies in the UK, the stability of Thames Water is crucial for many residents who depend on its services.
