Waspi: No payouts for women hit by state pension age rise

The UK government has announced that women born in the 1950s, who are affected by increases in the state pension age, will not receive financial compensation. This decision follows pressure from campaigners advocating for the Women Against State Pension Inequality (Waspi), who argue that 3.6 million women were inadequately informed about the changes, resulting in financial and emotional distress. Despite a recommendation from a parliamentary ombudsman for payouts ranging from £1,000 to £2,950, the government has dismissed the idea of any financial compensation.
