Trump Puts Shares of His Media Company in a Trust

Published On Dec 20, 2024, 12:48 AM

President-elect Donald Trump transferred approximately 115 million shares of Trump Media & Technology Group to a trust controlled by his son, Donald Trump Jr., as part of a regulatory filing. This trust makes Donald Jr. the sole trustee with full control over the shares, although Trump still indirectly owns them as the trust's beneficiary. The transfer may be a strategy to prevent conflicts of interest when Trump assumes the presidency, particularly since Trump Media is associated with his social media platform, Truth Social, which operates at a loss despite Trump's significant stake valued around $4 billion.
