Brazil shuts BYD factory site over 'slavery' conditions

Brazil has temporarily shut down a BYD factory site due to allegations of 'slavery-like' conditions for construction workers, who were found to be living in unsatisfactory conditions. The factory was set to be BYD's first manufacturing site outside of Asia, with operations expected to start by March 2025. BYD, a major player in the electric vehicle market, including selling more electric cars than Tesla recently, stated that they had taken steps to rectify the worker's living conditions, moving affected workers to hotels.
