Avanti West Coast strike to hit New Year's Eve trains

Avanti West Coast will face significant service reductions on New Year's Eve due to a strike by train managers over a dispute regarding rest days. The RMT union members plan to strike on December 31 and January 2, resulting in only a limited number of trains operating, particularly affecting popular routes. The strike is the result of dissatisfaction with a compensation proposal and an ongoing negotiation stalemate. Strikes are also planned every Sunday from mid-January to late May. Avanti management expressed disappointment regarding the strikes and hopes for resolution.
