'Ripped off' caravan owners start compensation fight

Published On Jan 2, 2025, 8:27 PM

About 1,200 caravan owners in the UK are launching a legal action against holiday parks due to alleged unfair increases in pitch fees and misleading valuations of static caravans. Following a BBC investigation that exposed financial losses faced by many, the Holiday Park Action Group (HPAG) is seeking compensation and hopes to enforce consumer protections in an unregulated sector. The legal proceedings will test the fairness of pitch fee increases and whether buyers were properly informed about the depreciation of caravan values.
