While Apple negotiates Indonesia sales ban, another Chinese smartphone maker is entering the country

Published On Jan 6, 2025, 8:27 PM

Honor, a smartphone brand spun off from Huawei, will launch its products in Indonesia by March 2025 after Apple faced a ban on selling its iPhone 16 due to local production requirements. Indonesia mandates that a significant portion of smartphone components be sourced domestically, which Apple has not complied with. Honor plans to introduce around 30 products in Indonesia within a year, targeting the medium to high-end market. This expansion takes place in a rapidly growing economy where smartphone demand is substantial, with currently leading brands being Oppo and Xiaomi.
