UK has not ruled out post-Brexit EU food trade deal, says Jonathan Reynolds

The UK Trade Secretary, Jonathan Reynolds, indicated a willingness to align UK food and farm product regulations with EU standards to restore frictionless trade with Europe. He discussed potential agreements for reducing trade barriers during a meeting with EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic at the World Economic Forum. These agreements, including a veterinary agreement and customs co-operation, would not contradict the UK government's established red lines regarding Brexit. However, political support is divided with some Conservatives opposing the idea while the Liberal Democrats advocate for stronger trade relations with the EU. Reynolds is also preparing to address potential US tariffs on UK exports.
