Scottish Water bills set to rise 9.9% in April

Scottish Water announced a 9.9% increase in water charges starting April, necessary for investing in infrastructure to manage climate change impacts such as droughts and heavy rain. This follows previous rises of 8.8% and 5%. The increase will mean homes in the lowest council tax band will pay over £400 for water services annually. The utility provider serves over 2.6 million households and is under pressure due to escalating water supply deficits and infrastructure challenges resulting from extreme weather conditions. The CEO emphasized the need for sustainable investment to maintain service quality.
