Water bills in England and Wales to rise by £123 a year in April

Starting in April, households in England and Wales will see their average water bills rise by £123 a year, bringing the total to £603. This increase, which is above previous estimates, will vary significantly by region, with some areas facing hikes of up to 47%. Water companies are focusing on investing in infrastructure improvements and providing support to low-income customers, but critics express concern that this rise will drive many households into debt, particularly given the current cost of living crisis. This current rise is noted as the largest in water bills since the privatization of the industry 36 years ago.
