Draught pints to cost 1p less after alcohol duty cut

Published On Jan 30, 2025, 7:01 PM

Draught pints will be 1p cheaper starting in February, due to a 1.7% cut in alcohol duty, the first reduction in ten years. However, rising costs associated with National Insurance and minimum wage increases may offset this relief, potentially leading to higher prices in pubs. Critics argue that despite this tax cut, pub prices may still rise by 30p to 40p due to these additional costs.
