Jeff Bezos space firm Blue Origin to cut a tenth of jobs
Published On Feb 13, 2025, 12:59 PM
Blue Origin, the space company founded by Jeff Bezos, is planning to lay off about 1,400 employees, which represents around 10% of its workforce. The company is restructuring to streamline operations, focusing on launching its New Glenn rocket. The layoffs come as Blue Origin aims to secure more commercial and government contracts, following its first successful test flight of the New Glenn rocket last month. There has also been a leadership change with Dave Limp now leading the company after the former CEO stepped down.

The job cuts at Blue Origin could indicate financial difficulties or a strategic pivot that might unsettle investors. Additionally, the recent successful test flight of the New Glenn rocket could provide positive momentum if followed by successful launches and contracts. However, the ongoing restructuring and the departure of key personnel introduce uncertainty.
