Woman Pleads Guilty in Covid Tax Credit Scheme That Netted $33 Million

A Nevada woman, Candies Goode-McCoy, pleaded guilty to defrauding the government by filing false tax returns to claim nearly $100 million in Covid relief. Over 16 months, she filed more than 1,200 returns and managed to receive $33 million, which she used for gambling, luxury goods, and vacations. She now faces up to 10 years in prison and has agreed to return most of the defrauded funds.
