German automakers, particularly Porsche, are facing significant sales declines in China as they struggle to compete with Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers like Xiaomi. The new Chinese cars, such as the Xiaomi SU7, offer comparable performance to luxury models like the Porsche Taycan but at a much lower price and with advanced technology features. Porsche's sales in China dropped by 28% last year, contributing to a global delivery decline of 3%. This shift in consumer preference towards affordable, tech-savvy electric vehicles may jeopardize the traditional dominance of German luxury cars in the market.
