A listeria outbreak linked to frozen shakes sold to nursing homes and hospitals has led to a recall after resulting in at least 11 deaths and 37 hospitalizations since 2018. The recalled products include Lyons ReadyCare and Sysco Imperial shakes, which were found to be contaminated. Investigations by the FDA and CDC revealed these shakes were connected to cases primarily in long-term care facilities across 21 states. The manufacturer, Lyons Magnus, has announced the recall and stated that these products were not sold for retail distribution.

Sysco's decision to halt purchases from Lyons Magnus indicates a proactive approach to risk management, but the fallout from the incident could impact investor confidence. The stock may experience downward pressure due to concerns over revenue loss from affected products.
