The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has recalled over 220,000 portable adult bed rails made by Medical King after one death and serious injuries were reported. This recall marks the ninth recall related to these products since 2021, which have collectively resulted in 18 deaths due to entrapment, primarily involving the head or neck. The CPSC emphasized the importance of ensuring the correct use and installation of bed rails, especially for those caring for elderly or mobility-restricted individuals. Safety standards for these products have been updated in early 2023 to enhance consumer protection.
