The Biden administration has decided not to intervene in the ongoing strikes at East and Gulf Coast ports by invoking the Taft-Hartley Act. This decision follows an impasse in negotiations between dockworkers, represented by the International Longshoremen's Association (ILA), and port employers. The strike commenced after the expiration of a six-year contract, with significant potential economic repercussions, estimated to cost the U.S. economy between $3.8 billion and $4.5 billion daily as operations are disrupted.
