According to Kai-Fu Lee, former head of Google China, Chinese AI models are lagging behind their U.S. counterparts by 6 to 9 months. However, he predicts that the proliferation of AI applications in China will occur much faster than in the U.S. by early next year. The cost of training AI models has significantly decreased, which supports the rapid development of AI applications. Lee also suggests that China will likely lead in developing exceptional AI applications, although it’s uncertain if this will come from larger companies or startups. Companies like Alibaba and Tencent are already introducing their AI models and products, while new entrants like ShengShu Technology are also innovating in the text-to-video space.
