E.On to pay out £14.5m after billing errors, Ofgem rules

E.On will pay £14.5m to approximately 100,000 customers who were affected by billing errors related to pre-payment meters. This payment includes credit that was not applied during a mandatory six-week period after customers canceled their contracts, as well as compensation and debt write-offs for affected customers. The UK regulator Ofgem found the situation unacceptable, particularly for vulnerable customers who were not made aware of their credit balance. E.On has acknowledged the error and stated it implemented changes to prevent future issues.
