GE Vernova Finds Further Problems With Its Wind Turbine Blades

GE Vernova has reported the discovery of manufacturing defects in some of its wind turbine blades that are similar to a blade that shattered last summer off Nantucket. This issue has prompted delays in the Vineyard Wind project, which is set to be the first commercial offshore wind farm in the U.S. The company announced a $700 million charge for losses related to these blade failures, and has plans to remove affected blades from the Vineyard Wind farm and reinforce others. Despite regulators recently allowing some construction activities to resume, the setbacks have raised concerns about GE Vernova's future in the offshore wind sector.
