The UK government is investing £10.5 million to prepare various transport hubs, including the Port of Dover and Eurostar terminals, for new EU border checks starting this autumn. The Entry/Exit System (EES) will require UK and non-EU travelers to submit biometric data, including fingerprints and photographs, to streamline border control processes. The funding will enhance technology at these locations to ensure compliance and reduce wait times, especially as travelers adapt to these changes. This system was initially supposed to launch in 2022 but has faced numerous delays, now set to be implemented by November 2024.
