Stellantis, the owner of the Vauxhall brand, has announced the closure of its van manufacturing plant in Luton, UK, which will risk approximately 1,100 jobs. This decision is part of a strategy to consolidate electric van production at its Ellesmere Port facility. Stellantis has indicated concerns over UK production conditions and has previously warned about the need for government support to enhance demand for electric vehicles, especially as current regulations are seen as too stringent by manufacturers.
