Brexit deal impact 'worsening', economists say

A new study from Aston University Business School reveals that post-Brexit regulations have severely impacted trade between the UK and the EU. UK goods exports to the EU decreased by 27% and imports fell by 32% between 2021 and 2023. Many smaller UK producers are struggling with increased administrative burdens and have abandoned exporting to the EU. While some sectors have fared better, trade with EU countries continues to be hampered by red tape, leading to calls for the UK government to improve trade relations and reduce regulatory barriers.

Stock Forecasts

Due to the ongoing trade challenges and regulation difficulties, particularly for smaller exporters, the overall sentiment in the UK export market appears negative. Given these conditions, companies heavily reliant on EU trade could face stock declines.
