Uber boss: Choose electric - even if you have an extra wait

Published On Oct 7, 2024, 7:03 PM

Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi encourages patience from customers willing to wait a few extra minutes for electric vehicle (EV) rides. The company is actively promoting the use of EVs in its fleet to meet sustainability goals, aiming for all rides to be in zero-emissions vehicles by 2040. He stresses the importance of government support for EV adoption and less restrictive policies on importing affordable Chinese EVs. Currently, most Uber vehicles are not fully electric, but adoption rates vary significantly across regions. Despite lower profit margins on electric rides, Uber plans to expand its delivery services, positioning itself to compete with Amazon.

Stock Forecasts

With Uber pushing for more electric vehicles and expanding delivery services, it could lead to increased customer loyalty and potential growth in the ride-hailing and delivery markets. The transition towards sustainability may attract environmentally conscious consumers, enhancing Uber's brand image. However, challenges such as low profit margins for EV rides and potential regulatory hurdles in EV adoption could pose risks. Overall, positive sentiment surrounding EVs and sustainable practices could support growth.
