Fernanda Hermosilla, an employee at the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission, received £36,000 in settlements after a colleague inappropriately touched her during a work Christmas party. Unable to adequately address her distress during the investigation, which involved working alongside the accused, she decided to take legal action. After a formal complaint was made by a witness of the incident, Hermosilla received £21,000 from the colleague and £15,000 from the Commission. The settlements were made without any admission of liability. The case emphasizes the need for clearer staff behavior policies at work events, particularly during holiday gatherings.
