T.I. and Tiny Awarded $71 Million Over L.O.L. Dolls’ Likeness to R&B Group

A jury ruled that MGA Entertainment, the company behind L.O.L. Surprise! dolls, violated the intellectual property rights of the music group OMG Girlz, awarding T.I. and Tiny $71 million. The dolls were said to resemble the OMG Girlz, a group created by T.I. and Tiny, too closely for it to be coincidental. The verdict is separate from ongoing allegations against the couple regarding sexual abuse, which they deny.

Stock Forecasts

The substantial financial penalty against MGA Entertainment could have a negative impact on its revenues and stock performance in the short term, as concerns about legal liabilities and affect on brand image may deter investors. Additionally, this ruling might lead to increased scrutiny of their product designs, potentially resulting in changes that may affect future sales.
